A Windy Christmas

(WXXI News & AP) Strong winds brought down some trees and power lines overnight and early Christmas morning throughout portions of Western NY and the Finger Lakes.

RG&E, NYSEG and National Grid also reported several hundred scattered outages throughout the region early on Thursday.

There were wind gusts of over 50 miles an hour at times.

High winds have damaged two buildings in Buffalo.

Local media report no injuries related to two partial building collapses in Buffalo blamed on high winds Christmas morning. The National Weather Service reported gusts of up to 67 mph and sustained winds above 40 mph in some lakeshore areas of western New York.

The forecast calls for temperatures in the 40s with some  sunshine on Friday.

It will remain relatively mild into Saturday, but then start turning colder on Sunday and into early next week.
