Widespread Time Warner Internet Outage Early Wed. Morning

There was a widespread outage affecting a number of Time Warner internet customers in different parts of the country early Wednesday morning.

Reports started coming in between 5 and 6am.

Time Warner sent us this statement just after 8:00 a.m.

"At 4:30 a.m.ET today, during routine network maintenance, an issue with our Internet backbone created disruption with our Internet and On Demand services. As of  6:00 a.m ET,  services were largely restored, as updates continue to bring all affected customers back online."

A number of people who contacted WXXI were still having problems with internet service after 6am, but soon after that, we started getting reports of service being restored.

The website downdetector.com reported that the outage affected a number of cities in the Northeast, in the mid-Atlantic area, Los Angeles and Texas.
