Rochester NY – The chairmen of the Monroe County Democratic and Republican Parties areready to do battle for the office of Sheriff. The political scenery changedWednesday when incumbent Sheriff Andrew Meloni announced plans to retire May31st.
GOP chairman Steve Minarik said he will propose to the executive committee that Undersheriff PatrickO'Flynn be the party's candidate.
Meanwhile Democratic Chairman Ted O'Brien said there are at least two meninterested in the job. The Democrats will select their candidate at their party's convention this spring.
The Conservative Party of Monroe County could also field their own candidatefor Sheriff this year.
