West Webster Firefighter Memorial Dedicated

West Webster firefighters along with family and friends dedicated a memorial on Sunday in back of their firehouse.

The memorial includes a metal sculpture of a firefighter, and a stone tablet etched with the names of four fallen West Webster firefighters. Two of them, Mike Chiapperini and Tomasz Kaczowka were killed last year during that Christmas Eve ambush;  two other names are inscribed, David Clapp, who died in 1986 and William Bostian, who died in 2005.

Al Sienkiewicz is a spokesman for the West Webster Fire Department. He says the events of last December 24th have forever changed the way many of their members will feel about Christmas.

"You can understand that every Christmas is going to be a little different from this point. No matter how far we get away from this we're always going to go back to 2012 and what happened on that morning. "

On this Christmas Eve morning, a private vigil will be held on Lake Road in Webster, the site of the house that had been occupied by William Spengler, the man who set the home on fire to lure the West Webster firefighters. Two of them died, and two others were injured.
