Wegmans Tries A New Concept For Its Prepared Meals

If you've been to the PittsfordWegmans lately you may have noticed something different in the prepared foods area. Instead of having the meals-to-go prepared by someone behind the counter, they have been pre-packaged.

Spokeswoman Jo Natale says this is only being done at the Pittsford store, which is also known as their 'innovation' store because they will try out new concepts there.

She says one advantage for consumers is convenience. Although the Pittsford store is open 24/7, the counter for the prepared meals isn't staffed late at night.

"By doing this, these are available 24-7  to all customers, they're quick, they're convenient, ready to go. "

Natale says this is an experiment, and there could be some tweaks to the program along the way. She stressed that the food in the $6, $8 and $10 meals is packaged right at the store and it's fresh.

Wegmans has also been offering a new $12 dollar meal for two people.
