Rochester-based Wegmans ranks #7 on Fortune Magazine's list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For.
That's up from its #12 ranking last year, although Wegmans usually is in the top 10. It is one of only a dozen companies that have been on the list since it began in 1998. They are also the highest ranked retailer.
The survey is based on responses from employee surveys and Wegmans CEO Danny Wegman says their employees "make Wegmans a place where customers feel happy and cared about, and my job is to make sure our employees feel that way, too."
The Fortune survey also notes that Wegmans stands out in the grocery business by offering various benefits including tuition reimbursement and health care benefits.
Google was #1 in the latest Best Places survey.
