Wegmans To Offer The Apple Pay System

Wegmans says  that it will be one of the first supermarkets in the country where customers can check out using Apple Pay, a new service which allows users to make purchases from their smartphone or other device through apps for online shopping.

The company says that when you add a credit or debit card with Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are not stored on the device or on Apple servers.

Each transaction is authorized with a one-time security code. Apple says that makes its proprietary system safe and secure rather than transmitting credit card numbers and security codes.

The service will be available to Wegmans customers as soon as it goes live on October 20. It will work with the iPhone 6, 6 Plus and Apple Watch.

A number of credit card companies and banks are also supporting the new system.
