Monroe County is among the counties participating in a statewide Stop-DWI effort this weekend.
County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo and Sheriff Patrick O'Flynn say the efforts begin Friday and end on July 5th.
They say historically, Fourth of July weekend has a high rate of impaired drivers so state police, county sheriff's departments and other law enforcement agencies collaborate across the state to look out for impaired drivers.
The initiative gets funding from the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee. The Stop-DWI crackdown campaign is also held on other holiday weekends throughout the year.
Monroe County Stop-DWI coordinator Peggy Duffy says you can also download the"Have a Plan" mobile app to get more information on responsible driving and to call a taxi service in the area.
