(AP & WXXI News)  Friends and relatives of police officers who have died in the line of duty  joined  state leaders and law enforcement officials for the annual Police Officers Memorial remembrance ceremony in Albany.

The ceremony was held Wednesday  at the New York State Police Officers Memorial in the Empire State Plaza.

The black granite memorial lists the names of more than 1,300 police officers, state troopers, sheriff's deputies and other law enforcement personnel who have died in the line of duty in New York state including Mike Chiapperini, the West Webster firefighter and Webster police lieutenant who was one of two firefighters killed in an ambush last Christmas Eve.

Among those honored posthumously were Monroe County Sheriff's Deputies -- Joseph Munz, who died in 1932, and James Conheady, who was killed in 1947.

Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy and state police Superintendent Joseph D'Amico were among the officials who attended  the ceremony.
