The mood was celebratory at Matthews East End Grill in Rochester, where Hillary Clinton's local supporters watched her presidential primary victory speech.
Jamie Romeo is the chair of the Monroe County Democratic Committee. She says recent visits by both Hillary and Bill Clinton might have helped put the democratic candidate over the edge.
"Hillary has a strong history with Upstate New York, and New York in general. Serving for 2 terms in the New York senate for us, she really understands this region and I think that when she's come back through with her surrogates it helped remind people of her time that she spent in the Senate that some people may have forgotten.

But, Romeo says, they still have work to do. The race in Monroe County was close, with Clinton ahead by less than 3000 votes according to unofficial Monroe County Board of Elections machine results.
Kevin Sweeney is a local delegate for Bernie Sanders. He says regardless of the outcome, he is proud of the work they've done and not discouraged by the results.
"Our organization, regardless of the outcome tonight, we're still working. We're going to be working though the entire campaign all the way to the convention and then even beyond that, beyond the general. We have something that's here to stay."
