Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren is demanding that the chairman of the Rochester Housing Authority Board of Commissioners give an explanation as to why RHA's executive director was fired last week.
In a letter to George Moses, Warren said she is still awaiting details about the dismissal, which she says Moses described as "a personnel matter."
Warren said if she does not get an immediate explanation, she will have no choice but to become more involved.
The authority's board dismissed Castro last week and appointed City Councilman Adam McFadden as interim director for three months. The mayor said a rigorous, formal search must be done to find the most qualified candidate to lead the authority.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development is investigating McFadden's appointment and City Councilwoman Jackie Ortiz has called for an ethics review of the matter.
The Rochester Housing Authority board has had a nearly complete turnover in the last few months. Castro last week told WXXI they are looking to develop a new strategy.
