Voters Want Cuomo Focused On Jobs & Education This Year

A new Siena College pollshows that voters want Governor Cuomo to  focus on jobs and education this year. Those are two issues that at least 40 percent of voters statewide say should be important priorities in 2015.

But there is some political split over the poll questions. Jobs and education are by far the most important two issues for Democrats, independents and New York City voters; Republicans see taxes and jobs as the two top priorities.

The survey also shows a slight increase in Cuomo's favorability rating.  60 percent of those surveyed favor him with 35 percent who do now. That's up a bit from 58 - 37 percent last month. Again, politics and geography make a difference. Cuomo is viewed favorably by more than three-quarters of Democrats and New York City voters. Upstate voters are evenly divided and Republicans view Cuomo unfavorably

By a five-to-two margin, New Yorkers support the Cuomo administration's ban on fracking; and by a 15 point margin, voters say implementation of Common Core standards should be stopped
