Voters Expressing Relief Election Day is Finally Here

Many voters WXXI talked with today said they were relieved that election day is finally here, but that didn't make their decision any easier.

Heather Gray of Irondequoit said she's open to all outcomes.

"You know I have the one in mind that I would like to see, and it'll be a relief just to move toward getting that new person into office," she said.

Robert Stothard of Irondequoit says it was a very difficult decision for him to fill out the ballot.

"I don't know if this was one of those elections or not, it was voting for who you don't want.  I don't like either one of them.  I wish Dwight Eisenhower was running again," he said.

But Bill James says he made up his mind long ago on who he'd support for president.

"I want Trump to be president because I don't trust Hillary at all.  At all.  Can I say that again? At all," he said.

For Gwen Nelson, also of Irondequoit, this election is about making sure America continues to embrace and welcome all people.

"Crucial turning point for the country.  I believe in bridges, not walls," she said.

Nelson says she's relieved election day is finally here, and she'd like to see Congress get back to work.

That’s a sampling of some views of several voters this morning at a polling site off Thomas Avenue in Irondequoit.
