A local company that makes software used to help diagnose disease is getting $1.6 million through a contract extension with the Veterans Administration.
That according to Congresswoman Louise Slaughter, who says she pushed the VA to extend a partnership with VisualDx that supports 30 jobs in Rochester. VisualDx has worked with the VA for more than five years, but its CEO, Dr. Art Papier, says that usefulness to the agency doesn't always ensure a contract will be renewed during tough budget times.
The company's software is accessible on 10,000 iPad Mini devices that that VA has in use as well as on all of its clinical computers.
