A "virtual ribbon cutting" ceremony was held this morning at the new downtown Rochester headquarters for VisualDx.

That company provides software so physicians can use its digital resources and imaging to improve

diagnosis, suggest treatment and help with medical education worldwide.

"For years, we've asked physicians to memorize everything, we know that's impossible. So now, physicians go online and so they grab information on their desktop computer or their phone, and it helps them make better decisions," company CEO Art Papier said.

He says diagnostic accuracy is critical to delivering the best medical care, and VisualDx is the first product in the category of clinical diagnostic support to gain widespread use.

Congresswoman Louise Slaughter, State Senator Joe Robach, and Assembly Majority Leader Joe Morelle were on hand to welcome VisualDx to downtown.

Slaughter said Rochester is the perfect environment for this company.

"All around the world, physicians are being helped in their diagnoses in ways they never even thought possible before."

Papier says the company employs about 30 people now, and has plans to expand this summer.

He adds their new downtown headquarters symbolizes their committment to the area, and allows them to continue with a talented team of employees in the competitive medical technology field.

VisualDx is located in the Valley Building on East Avenue, former home of Valley Cadillac.
