UR Medicine’s Wilmot Cancer Institute has been awarded an $18.6 million grant to help lead a nationwide clinical research network which will investigate cancer-related side effects.
The award from the National Cancer Institute to researcher Gary Morrow is among the five largest grants received by a UR Medical Center researcher in the past 10 years.
The five-year grant will fund work that revolves around supportive care for patients coping with side effects during and following cancer treatment.
The concept is to take good ideas from within the University of Rochester and from scientists and other sites around the country and turn them into large clinical trials.
