The Rochester City School District has released a letter from Board President Van White on the condition of Dan Lowengard. The interim leader of the district has been in the hospital after collapsing during a Rochester Teachers Association event last Thursday night.
White says that Lowengard is keeping details of his medical situation private, but says he is feeling better and is in good spirits.
White says Lowengard remained in the hospital on Sunday and will not be in the office this week.
He says it will be a few more days before Lowengard knows how soon he might be able to return to work.
The two deputy superintendents for the district continue to oversee the operational and educational functions of the district.
Lowengard was appointed after Supt. Bolgen Vargas announced last fall he would be stepping down at the end of the year. Lowengard took over on January 1st, and Vargas is staying on in an advisory capacity if needed through June.
