Update On Letchworth Search: One Body Recovered, Another Child Presumed Drowned

State Police have released more information about the search and rescue operation that began Saturday night after several people were reported to have fallen over the lower falls at Letchworth State Park.

On Sunday afternoon, Troopers said that a total of seven people went over the lower falls on Saturday at about 7pm. Five people were rescued and taken to Strong Hospital with injuries varying from serious to minor. They included 2 men and 3 girls.

On Sunday, police said that  a 9 year old and a 6 year old in the lower falls area were presumed drowned. The body of one of the victims was recovered on Sunday.

Areas near the falls were closed Sunday afternoon because of the ongoing operation.

New York State Park Police, State Police , Wyoming County Deputies, State Police helicopters and an underwater recovery team were all involved in the search.

Names of the victims have not been released yet.
