Two Rochester firefighters injured in 2-alarm fire

Two Rochester firefighters suffered non-life threatening injuries after a two alarm fire on the city’s west side early Friday evening.

Officials say it involved a house at 888 Jay Street. A second alarm was called because the flames from the large, two and a half story house, were starting to threatened a neighboring home.

One adult and four children were home in one of the apartments in the building and they, along with an adult living upstairs all got out safely.

The two firefighters who had injuries were treated at the hospital. The house will be demolished and the Red Cross is helping out the affected families. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
