Two Men Charged With Manslaughter Following Lake Ave. Pedestrian Accident

TWC News

Rochester Police have charged two city men with manslaughter following an accident that killed a pedestrian early Saturday morning

Officers say just after midnight,  46 year old Laureen Greczyn of Greece  was crossing Lake Avenue when she was struck by a 1998 Mercedes Benz. After striking the woman, the car hit another vehicle before coming to a stop.

It happened in Charlotte in the 3000 block of Lake Ave.

Police say the investigation shows the driver of the car that struck the victim and another vehicle were street racing at the time of the accident.

The driver of the car that hit the woman is identified as Jose Surrino. The driver of the other car is Jose Vasquez. Both are 39 years old and both now face charges of 2nd degree manslaughter.

City officials were on Lake Ave. , closer to downtown, just last month looking for ways to reduce the number of serious accidents on that road.
