ALBANY (AP) Police in New York will be on the lookout for drunken drivers this Super Bowl weekend.
Governor Andrew Cuomo says state and local police will increase patrols and sobriety checkpoints today and tomorrow, and will also step-up enforcement of laws prohibiting underage drinking.
Last year, state police arrested 31 impaired drivers and issued more than 1,000 tickets. More than 100 additional motorists were charged with driving while under the influence by local police.
Officials say choosing a designated driver before a party is a good idea.
