Tragedy, forgiveness, and magic: How Jon Dorenbos survived the brutal murder of his mother

bivonacac.org

Jon Dorenbos started his NFL career as a long snapper with the Buffalo Bills in 2003.

Later, he played for the Titans, Eagles, and Saints. Less than a year ago, the discovery of an aortic aneurysm forced Jon to retire from football.

But that wasn't the first time he experienced a life altering event.  In August, 1992, when Jon was 12 years old, his father killed his mother in a fit of rage. He bludgeoned her with a power tool and hid the body in the trunk of his car.

Jon talks openly about how he survived that tragedy and how learning how to do magic tricks changed the course of his life.

He was the keynote speaker this morning at the Bivona Child Abuse Summit, a conference offering multi-disciplinary training for social workers, law enforcement, prosecutors, mental health and medical professionals, and others.
