Toy Hall of Fame Seeking Nominations

The deadline to nominate a toy for induction into the National Toy Hall of Fame at the Strong is quickly approaching.

Submissions for nominations must be received by the museum by July 31.

Chris Bensch, vice president for collections at the Strong, says nominees must have longevity and a recognition factor. He says they must also encourage learning, creativity and socialization.

There are currently 49 toys in the National Toy Hall of Fame, including items like the cardboard box, the stick, brand name toys and games like Barbie and Scrabble and even two electronic games: the Atari 2600 Game System and the Nintendo Game Boy.

An internal museum advisory team will determine which toys meet the criteria for selection.

There is an online submission form for your nomination.

You can also see the complete list of inductees at the Hall of Fame’s website.

An induction ceremony is planned for November of this year.
