The National Weather Service has now dropped the tornado warning for Ontario County (as of 5 p.m.)
The warning was initially in place until 4:30 p.m., but later extended. The warning means conditions are favorable for the formation of a tornado, but there were no immediate reports of a funnel cloud actually touching the ground.
In any case, people living in the area were advised to seek shelter. There were also strong thunderstorms in that area, with reports of torrential rain, possible hail and strong winds.
There were reports of trees down in the Hopewell area.
