From the Top & A Feminist Response to Pop Culture

From the Top/NPR

NPR’s famed classical music program, From the Top, is in Rochester this week. WXXI’s Hélène Biandudi Hofer sits down with renowned flutists Sir James and Lady Jeanne Galway and From the Top host Christopher O’Riley. They look at the changes in music education and what it will take to help young classical musicians thrive in the midst of funding cut-backs in public education music programs.

Also on the show - we’ve talked about the N-Word, the R-Word and this week we’re joined by Andi Zeisler of B-Word Worldwide to discuss the B-Word. Zeisler is the co-founder of a non-profit feminist news organization that offers a feminist response to popular culture and mainstream media. Zeisler, from Portland, Oregon, is one of the featured speakers for the University of Rochester's Women’s History Month celebration.

Watch this Thursday at 8pm on WXXI-TV, Channel 21.1 and Cable 11 or 1221.
