The general manager of the Rochester Red Wings is optimistic a new lease agreement can be worked out with Monroe County to keep the team at Frontier Field.
The current agreement expires at the end of the year, and Dan Mason says they're working hard with Monroe County to put together another long term lease.
"We've generated revenues that have gone back to the county of around a million dollars a year, for each of the first 21 years that we've been here. And we think we've been a good tenant, and quite honestly Monroe County has been a good partner of ours in this whole venture the first 21 years of the ball park," he said.
The local development corporation that manages Frontier Field reportedly owes Monroe County over $30 million dollars.
Mason says that debt is not the Red Wings' responsibility.
WXXI has emailed Monroe County and is waiting for a response.
