Thousands Running In Sunday's Rochester Marathon

Thousands of runners take to the streets on Sunday morning for the 10th annual MVP Health Care Rochester Marathon.

More than 3300 people have registered, with the vast majority, over 2,000, signed up to run the half-marathon. There are just over 600 people running the full marathon, and more than 130 teams participating.

The race begins on the Andrews St. Bridge downtown at 7:30 a.m. Runners will head down East Avenue all the way to Fairport, then run back along the Erie Canal, through Genesee Valley Park. Once they cross the Ford Street Bridge, they will travel along the streets of downtown to finish at Frontier Field.

The runners participating represent 35 states and Canadian provinces and three countries.

The marathon is a qualified for the Boston Marathon.

The course is open until 2:30 p.m.

The race will cause some temporary street closures:

The following streets will be closed until the final runner leaves the area. These streets will re-open as soon as possible after that time.

-Liberty Pole Way - CLOSED
-Franklin Street - CLOSED
-Pleasant Street - CLOSED
-E. Main Street - CLOSED - between N. Clinton Avenue & N. Chestnut Street
-East Avenue - CLOSED - between E. Main Street and Winton Road
-S. Winton Road - CLOSED - between East Avenue and Highland Avenue
-Highland Avenue - CLOSED - between Monroe Avenue & S. Clinton Avenue
-Cobbs Hill Drive - CLOSED
-San Gabriel Drive - CLOSED
-Plymouth Avenue Northbound - CLOSED - between Exchange Boulevard & Atkinson Street
-Verona Street - CLOSED - between Brown Street and Morrie Silver Way
-Morrie Silver Way - CLOSED
-Ford Street Bridge - OPEN -  North Curb lane closed
-Exchange Boulevard - OPEN - northbound only
-Exchange Boulevard southbound - CLOSED - from Court Street to Plymouth Avenue
