The Rochester school district sent bottled water to four summer programs today after test results showed lead levels above the EPA threshold.

The initial tests show 11 percent of water fixtures in 22 schools -- 98 out of the 881 tested -- have more than 20 parts per billion level of lead.

"The lead concern in our community is not from the water. We have a lot of evidence to date that suggests that the concerns for lead in our community come from the old housing stock," says Public Health Commissioner Michael Mendoza.

The school district will notify parents of children in relevant schools.

They plan to fix the fountains or "take them offline" by the time school starts come September 7.
