Suspensions Follow Fight Ending St. John Fisher Game

ONEONTA (AP) Hartwick College's head football coach and five players have been suspended for a fight that broke out at the end of last Saturday's loss to St. John Fisher.

Hartwick's athletic department announced Wednesday that coach Mark Carr and five unidentified players were suspended Tuesday because of "unsportsmanlike behavior'' in the final minutes of the 41-34 home loss.

The Daily Star of Oneonta reports that both benches cleared and players shoved one another after Fisher's quarterback was hit twice by Hartwick defenders while taking a knee in the final 30 seconds to run out the clock.

Hartwick is a Division III school located in Oneonta and plays in the Empire 8 Conference. The 3-6 Hawks play their final game of the season at Utica College this Saturday.
