State Says Monroe Community Hospital Has Fixed Deficiencies

The State Health Department has issued a report which says Monroe County's nursing home  has  corrected deficiencies found in an earlier inspection, and now is in substantial compliance with  state and federal requirements.

County Executive Maggie  Brooks released the letter from the state after the health department had found a patient at Monroe Community Hospital was mistreated by the director of the facility after the patient's wheelchair was taken away.  That director was subsequently fired.

The state also wanted a long-dormant advisory board to be re-activated, which was done recently.  Brooks has pledged to personally oversee the implementation of the corrective action plan. She says the quality of care during the transitional period has remained strong.
