State Police hold strategy meeting in search area.

State Police issued a statement Saturday updating search efforts for David Sweat, the escapee from the Clinton Correctional facility missing for three weeks now.

The other inmate he escaped with, Richard Matt, was shot to death by authorities on Friday who were responding to a complaint fired at a camping trailer.

On Saturday, troopers say the search effort was focused on a 22 square mile perimeter along Route 30 between County Route 41 in the Town of Malone and County Route 26 in the Town of Duane.

Police say dogs and aviation units were also involved in the search area. There are about 1200 federal, state and local law enforcement people involved in the search.

Officials say that the body of Matt has been taken to Albany Medical Center for an autopsy.

State Police again thanked the public for its support and urged residents in the area to continue to call 911 with information about anything out of the ordinary.
