State To Began Rehab Of Inner Loop Bridge

The NY State Transportation Department says that construction begins May 26th on a nearly $6 million project to rehabilitate the bridge that carries the Inner Loop over the Genesee River and Brown's Raceway in Rochester.

The bridge is located between the State Street and St. Paul Street exits in the High Falls district.

The rehab work includes replacing the top layer of the bridge roadway surface as well as repairs to steel beams, and other parts of the bridge. There will also be minor sidewalk repairs and curb improvements.

Beginning Tuesday, May 26, the entrance from State Street to the Inner Loop eastbound will be closed daily, or as needed, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A detour for traffic on State Street directs traffic to Andrews Street to access the expressway from St. Paul Street.

In mid-June the St. Paul Street entrance ramp to the Inner Loop westbound will also close, along with the travel lanes on the bridge for approximately a month.  One lane in each direction will be maintained. During this time, a posted detour will direct traffic on St. Paul Street to Andrews Street to State Street to access I-490 west from Brown Street.

The sidewalks on the bridge will be closed for periods throughout the project. Pedestrian detour signs will be posted.

The exit ramps from the Inner Loop westbound to St. Paul / North Water Street and from the Inner Loop eastbound to State Street will remain open.
