Snowy, slippery driving on Tuesday

Although it’s not a major snowstorm, the morning commute was a messy one around the Rochester area on Tuesday, and cold temperatures could mean slick spots throughout the day on some roads.

There were a number of accidents and fender benders slowing morning traffic on both main highways and side roads.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Monroe and Orleans Counties until 1:00 p.m. and the advisoryfor Wayne County has been extended until 4:00 p.m.

A few inches of snow fell overnight in some areas, and News 8 Meteorologist Josh Nichols says another 3 to 6 inches are possible in some areas during the day until snow tapers off in the afternoon, with higher amounts closer to Lake Ontario. High temperatures will be in the mid 20s.

Wednesday could see some more light snow possibly mixing with rain later in the day.

More mixed precipitation is expected Thursday with a high near 40, and temperatures turning colder toward the weekend.
