Snow and very cold weather on tap this week

The official start of winter is not until December 21st, but winter weather, with snow and very cold temperatures are on tap for Western NY and the Finger Lakes this week.

On Sunday, there is a Winter Weather Advisoryfor Monroe and surrounding counties starting at 1pm Sunday and running through 7am on Monday.

The forecast is for an inch or less of snow Sunday afternoon, 2 to 4 inches Sunday night and up to an inch of snow on Monday for a total accumulation in the range of 3 to 5 inches.

Temperatures will be around 30 on Sunday, and a bit milder on Monday with some drizzle mixing in with any snow.

The polar vortex makes its presence felt later in the week, with highs on Thursday and Friday expected to only be in the teens, and a good chance of lake effect snow.

Temperatures are expected to rebound on Saturday, with a high in the 30s
