Small Businesses Giving Back

rochestersbc.com

The Small Business Council is once again collecting food baskets for families in the Rochester area this Thanksgiving.

Council president Paul Kaiser says the annual SBC Cares Thanksgiving Appeal aims to collect 3-thousand food baskets from the local business community.

"They go to local charities throughout Rochester, such as Catholic charities, Veterans Outreach, Volunteers of America, Soujourner House.  It's a great cause, so we rally the business community to give back," he said.

More than 350 businesses are expected to participate in SBC Cares Thanksgiving Appeal.

"Our members are the Rochester businesses, the small and medium-sized companies in Rochester. So we've always rallied with them and asked them for support.  And this year we're trying to get the companies to compete against each other, so yes, we like to have a competition and have companies challenge each other," Kaiser said.

The food boxes will be delivered to a warehouse in East Rochester today, then to various charities on Sunday where they'll be distributed to families in the area.
