One Dead, One In Custody, After Shooting & Fire In Le Roy

TWC News

LEROY, N.Y. (AP)  Police say a man is accused of setting his house on fire and shooting his neighbor to death in Genesee County.

Genesee County Sheriff Gary Maha says 53-year-old Kyle Johnson of  LeRoy walked into a neighbor's house shortly before 4 a.m. Tuesday and shot 69-year-old Norman Ball in the head with a 12-gauge shotgun.

Shortly afterward, firefighters responded to a fire at Johnson's house. Maha says Johnson shot at them but no one was injured.

Multiple police agencies arrived on the scene as Johnson paced outside. He was arrested after he put down his weapon shortly before 8 a.m.

Maha says Johnson is being charged with second-degree murder and other charges.
