Serious Crash On Main Street In Rochester

A chase from Macedon to Rochester on Friday afternoon ended with a crash on Main Street near East High School.

Macedon Police say they had responded to a report of a theft of alcohol at a business in that town, and when they responded they found the suspects’ vehicle pulling out of a parking space at the nearby Wal Mart Store.

Officers say they tried to stop the pickup truck, but the driver tried to ram one of their police cars and then took off on Route 31 toward Monroe County.  Police say they continued the chase and the driver of the pickup eluded police for a brief period of time in Rochester on East Main Street, and then it crashed into another vehicle.

The three suspects in their truck as well as the the driver of the other vehicle had to be freed by firefighters. All four were treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Police say they recovered stolen merchandise from several stores. Charges are pending by both Macedon and Rochester Police.
