The Seneca Nation of Indians took another step Tuesday toward establishing a casino near Rochester. The Seneca Gaming Corporation hired a subsidiary of Flaum Management Company to explore opportunities in Henrietta.

"We have a wonderful relationship, and I am profoundly grateful to them for choosing me," says David Flaum, who will help the Seneca Indians coordinate gaming and hospitality opportunities in Henrietta.

"David's going to be taking a look at, obviously, land potential and what can be developed on that land, that makes sense to the Indians," says Seneca spokesperson Susan Asquith.

Asquith told WXXI that the partnership with Flaum is a fresh start for the Nation, which had wanted a casino in downtown Rochester.

"Gaming's been up and down - and not to say they haven't had great success in building their gaming enterprises - but you always have to be looking too - what's the next thing? I think they're looking at all sorts of different options for development in that area."

Flaum's recommendations will be presented to the Seneca Nation leadership and tribal council for consideration. Asquith said there is no timetable for a decision.
