Rochester Police, Monroe County Deputies, Greece, Irondequoit and State Police are all investigating an incident that closed down Durand-Eastman Park on Wednesday night.
The incident apparently began when a vehicle was stolen in Greece during a burglary.
According to Time Warner Cable News, Irondequoit Police spotted the vehicle and then shots were fired and the suspects fled. There’s no word of any injuries.
The D & C says that officers saw a yellow Hummer that was reported stolen in Greece, and that led to a brief pursuit that ended at Durand-Eastman. That vehicle was abandoned and the suspects allegedly stole a Mercedes.
Reportedly that Mercedes was found overnight on Rogers Avenue in Rochester.
Police say the only description of the suspects they are looking for, are that they are four white males and two white females. There's no word yet of any arrests from police, but it's expected the beach will reopen Thursday morning.
Camp Eastman, a day camp, is also expected to be open for campers, and the Irondequoit Police Chief says a reverse-robo-call is being made to residents who live near the park Thursday morning telling them it's safe to be outside of their homes and go about their business.
