Scott Hetsko: "My duty is to take care of my heart and get donor numbers up so others can be saved"

He is the Rochester meteorologist with the big smile and the charismatic personality, often seen gesturing emphatically  in front of the weather graphics on WROC-TV.

But Scott Hetsko says he feels more energetic now, two weeks after his heart transplant, than he has for several years.

Scott recently revealed the details of his extended absence from his work. He was hospitalized since June while he waited for a donor heart.  He is at home with his family now, taking great care not to be exposed to viruses while he recovers from surgery.

Click on the Listen link above to hear Scott talk about his new heart, the donor family he hopes to meet one day, and his new mission to get others to register as organ donors.
