Cleveland-based Constantino's Market, which opened with much fanfare in College Town last April, is closing.
And Senator Charles Schumer is calling for the Department of Health and Human Services to investigate why.
He says HHS provided over $740,000 to get the project off the ground.
But the grocery store is closing after just ten months.
Schumer says they may be looking for an alternative use for the 20-thousand square foot space, because it's important to keep College Town going strong.
"We'll try to find a better use, but we also think (Constantino's) should be forced to pay back the loan, that's for sure."
Schumer says the U of R and the community asked for federal help to make the grocery store possible.
And it's important to find out why Constantino's failed after just a few months.
