Schumer Celebrates Cool Whip Factory Deal

Senator Schumer was in Avon today touring the Kraft Heinz plant, famous for its Cool Whip manufacturing. He says now is the perfect time to celebrate a victory for this facility.

"What do we always eat at Thanksgiving in addition to turkey? We eat pumpkin pie, right here, and I am recommending that everyone in New York State have a nice big dose of Cool Whip on their pumpkin pie this Thanksgiving."

Thanks to a deal struck between the state and Kraft-Heinz, the four hundred jobs at their facility in Avon are safe -- for now. The state has agreed to match twenty million dollars in investments from the company over the next five years, which Schumer says will be used to modernize and update the facility.

"Kraft intends to expand this plant, and bring other product lines here, so more people in this area will get jobs here.

The Walton facility in Deleware County also avoided closure through the deal, and the closure of the Campbell facility in Steuben County has been delayed to try to find a private buyer and keep the jobs in place.
