The RTS Bus system is getting a new look, and a few name changes.  The announcement was made Tuesday at the headquarters building on East Main Street.

Officials rolled in a couple of the newly painted buses into one of the garages, buses which sport the new logo colors of blue, green and white.

The Rochester Genesee Regional Transit Authority decided on the re-branding effort in part because it has several subsidiaries. They will now all be re-named  "RTS" followed by the county name, such as RTS Livingston or RTS Wayne.

RTS CEO Bill Carpenter says the marketing changes actually began a while ago.

"The overall effort's going to take us about three years. We started about a year and a half ago to begin to find the consultants that would work with us on this so that when we open the transit center people would give us a new look and we would have a fresh brand for them to take a look at. "

RTS is also changing the name of  Lift Line, which is the para-transit service. It will now be called " RTS Access" which Carpenter says highlights the access the services gives to people with mobility problems. RTS officials say they are making changes to the system used to book rides on RTS Access to make it faster and easier to use.

The bus company also has refreshed its website, now called myRTS.com
