He was introduced to the piano at the age of five. By the time he was ten, he was playing the trombone in a marching band with uniformed firefighters. When he was 18, he was named principal trombone of the Lyric Opera Orchestra in Chicago. He was the youngest musician to join that ensemble. And the Pittsford native is also the youngest Music Director to take the baton for the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra now its 93rd year. On this segment of Need to Know, Ward Stare shares his plans for the RPO as he makes preparations to launch the 2015-16 Season.
