The wait for Rochester's first sonic ends on Saturday. The restaurant will open at 9 a.m. at the newly renovated Depot Plaza on East Ridge Road in Irondequoit. A ribbon cutting with Irondequoit Supervisor Adam Bellow and franchisee Fran DeSimone will precede the opening. The Irondequoit location is one of several planned in Rochester and Buffalo. Sonic has more than 3,500 locations in U.S. Prior to the Irondquoit location, the closest Sonic was in the Binghamton area.
