As City Hall watchers in Rochester wait to see what changes incoming Mayor Lovely Warren will make when she takes office next year, there’s at least one cabinet post she will have to consider right off the bat.
Bret Garwood, who is the city’s Director of Business and Housing Development, is leaving that job to take a position with the New York State Department of Homes and Community Renewal.
He will be a senior vice president for multi-family housing.
Garwood has been with the city since 2007. Mayor Tom Richards called him a “most valuable part of the development team” at City Hall, and he says there are few, if any projects in which Garwood has not had a major contribution.
Garwood will continue working with the city until mid-December.
