Rochester & The Red Wings Team Up For Clean Sweep

Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren has at least part of her weekend planned out. On Saturday, she takes part in Clean Sweep activities with the Rochester Red Wings, encouraging and helping volunteers clean up the city.

Thousands of volunteers will participate in more than 100 Clean Sweep project sites, picking up litter and debris, planting flowers, pruning trees and performing other neighborhood beautification projects.

The kick-off is at 8:00 a.m. at Frontier Field

The actual clean-up runs from  9 a.m. to noon.

These are the recommended project sites:

--Sofrito Garden Project, 70 Conkey Ave. - Project HOPE, Ibero

--472 Hudson Ave. - Hudson Corridor Project & CONEA Garden Project

-- Otis Street and Burrows Street - JR Wilson Park

-- Planet Street and Parkedge Street - SANG/Sebastian Park

-- 662 South Ave. - BASWA South Wedge clean-up

--346 Rosedale St. - Widewaters Garden

--Jefferson Avenue & W. Main Street - Jefferson clean-up (This is a roving project that spans Jefferson Avenue)

-- Thurston Road & Brooks Avenue - Thurston clean-up (This is a roving project that spans Thurston Road.)

At 1 p.m., Saturday, May 2 - Mayor Warren presents award to Silver Sweeper

At 1:35 p.m. Red Wings game vs. Norfolk Tides begins
