Rochester resident Joseph Louis is headed to West, Texas, to help those affected by the fertilizer plant explosion in that town. The local Red Cross volunteer says there will be places there that will never be habitable again.
Louis says it's unfortunate this disaster has been overshadowed by the bombings in Boston and the flooding in the midwest. In addition to food, shelter and housing, sometimes victims just need someone to talk to, says Louis.
He says the plant was one of the largest employer in West, Texas, and many people are now out of work. He'll be assigned to shelters, but he says that could be subject to change very quickly.
Louis expects to be in West, Texas a minimum of three weeks.
