Rochester is among the top ten best cities if you like food and don’t want to have to pay too much.

That’s according to the website WalletHub, which in its “2015 Best and Worst Food Cities For Your Wallet”  ranks Rochester 9th among 150 U.S. cities in terms of affordable grocery and restaurant items.

Wallet Hub spokesperson Jill Gonzalez says Rochester ranks well in terms of the number of grocery stores and restaurants on a per capita basis.

“Not only being a good foodie city and having a lot of diversity, accessibility and high quality of foods and restaurants and drinks but we also looked at the affordability rank here.  So really the best foodie cities for people on a budget, and that’s of course a lot harder to come by.”

The WalletHub survey ranked Rochester even higher  in terms of the number of ice cream and frozen yogurt shops per capita…in that category we ranked #4 in the country.

Buffalo also did pretty well in the overall survey, coming in at number 15.  Portland, Oregon ranked number one. Coming in last among the 150 cities was Moreno Valley, California.
