Richard Ben Cramer, Brighton High School class of 1967, has died.

The Associated Press is reporting the Pulitzer Prize winning journalist passed away Monday from complications from lung cancer.

He was 62.

Cramer is known for this best-selling biography of Joe DiMaggio, an Esquire Magazine article on another baseball legend, Ted Williams, and his book "What it Takes: The Way to the White House."
It's Cramer's account of the 1988 U.S. Presidential election.

The New York Times reports Cramer was a Middle East correspondent from 1977 to 1984 for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

He won a Pulitzer Prize in 1979 for his reporting there.

Cramer lived with his wife on Maryland's Eastern Shore.
